DETAILS

Participants will solve clues to find hunt items, take pictures of items, and post to Twitter or Instagram with the following mentions/tag @MoCoFair, @CountyCableMoCo. This free and fun scavenger hunt is brought to you by The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair and County Cable Montgomery, the local cable channel that ensures residents have access to open government through video. bit.ly/scavengertweet

Rules: 

  1. The hunt begins with the first successful post on Twitter or Instagram that fulfills the requirements for posting.
  2. Each participant must capture images of all of the scavenger hunt items listed and satisfactorily post on Twitter or Instagram to be eligible to win a prize. Successfully capturing and posting wild card images are not necessary to be eligible for a prize, but they give you a better chance of winning. 
  3. All pictures must be taken at the 2019 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. If the judges cannot verify that a photo was taken at the fair this year, it will not be accepted. Duplicate photos do not qualify for additional credit or for other accounts.
  4. Satisfactorily Posting on Twitter or Instagram – Each post on Twitter or Instagram must include the photo, a mention/tag of @MoCoFair and a mention/tag of @CountyCableMoCo. Posts without a photo and both mentions/tags will not qualify.
  5. Each participant must post to his or her own Twitter account. No combined efforts between two or more accounts will be accepted.
  6. A lottery style drawing will determine which qualified participant receives prizes. Entries will not be accepted after 7pm on Saturday August 17th.
  7. Wild Card posts increase chances to win!

Winners:

  • Participants that satisfactorily post all of the scavenger hunt items become eligible for the prize drawings. Daily winners selected by 3pm each day.
  • Participants that post the wild card items will have a greater chance of winning the overall drawing.
  • Winners will be announced August 22nd and notified via Twitter or Instagram direct message.
  • Winners of the Grand Prize and First Prize will have until September 10th to pick up their prizes. Winners of the Second, Third and Fourth Prizes may choose to pick up their prizes no later than September 21st or choose to receive them via US Mail. Daily winners can pick up their prizes in the Ag Fair office. Each winner must verify their Twitter or Instagram account.

Facebook Cash Selfie Contest

Object:

To take the ultimate selfie at the Fair and win $71! Winners will be announced daily during the nine days of the Fair. A random winner will be chosen each evening, announced on Facebook, and notified via Facebook. The objective of this contest is to expand the Montgomery County Agricultural Center’s (MCAC) social media presence through photo documentation of the event and contest winners.

Equipment needed:

Smart phone and the ability to post the picture onto Facebook.

How to play:

Fair patrons will have to go to the Official Fair Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Mcagfair to post their photo with the hashtag #mocofair under the daily contest thread.  One selfie is permitted per individual and must include the following mention to be eligible for the cash prize: #mocofair All Facebook posts for this contest must be made PUBLIC for viewing by the Fair Social Media Committee.

All participants grant the use of their photo entry for promotional purposes by the MCAC on our social media outlets including but not limited to, Facebook, MCAC website, Instagram and others to advertise the contest, that we have a winner, and to encourage participation in the contest throughout the duration of the Fair as well as for other advertising purposes in print and online media.

Rules:

NO SELFIE STICKS ARE PERMITTED ON THE GROUNDS. SELFIES MUST BE TAKEN THE TRADITIONAL WAY.

Photo MUST be taken at the 2019 Montgomery County Fair to be eligible for the chance to win.

Inappropriate content will not be tolerated and will be deleted from the Fair’s Facebook page if posted.

There will be a random winner selected each evening of Fair. Either a Facebook video will be used to announce the winner or a comment to the winner will be posted on the contest thread.  Once the winner is selected we will notify them on Facebook via direct message. If the winner has not responded within seven days, they will be disqualified.

This contest is for General Admission Fair Patrons who have purchased or have been provided with a complimentary ticket, and is intended to promote the Fair and boost our social media presence in the community. No Fair employee, Board Member, Jr. Board Member, Royalty, Volunteer, Contractor, Life Member, Associate Member, Vendor, Concessionaire, Honorary Member, Exhibitor, Boy Scout Troop 447 member or other person providing services to the Montgomery County Fair is eligible to win the cash prize. 

The prize will only be awarded to an individual one time. Participation is encouraged all nine days, however each individual will only have one opportunity to win.

Each winner will get a check mailed to them for the $71 prize within ten business days after the Fair ends.


My Best Fair Photo Contest

The Arts, Crafts, Hobbies and Photography Department is holding a special contest, My Best Fair Photo, during the 2019 Fair!

There will be four themed contests during the week:

Theme 1 “Children of All Ages”:  Entries received noon Sunday, 8/11 through noon on Tuesday, 8/13.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/13.

Theme 2 “Fair Flavors”:  Entries received from noon Tuesday, 8/13 through noon Thursday, 8/15.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/15.

Theme 3 “Moovin Around the Fair”:  Entries received from noon Thursday, 8/15 through noon Saturday, 8/17.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/17.

Theme 4 “Fair Montage”:   Entries received by noon Saturday, 8/17. Judging will be held evening of 8/17.

Only one entry per person per contest will be accepted.  Entries will be received in the Arts, Crafts, Hobbies, and Photography building (Building #3) from 12noon to 8pm daily starting Sunday,  August 12.  (Entrants must come to the building to fill out the entry form and sign photo release. The picture must be in jpeg format only.)

Ribbons will be awarded to the first, second, and third place photos.  A champion for each contest will be selected from the first place winners and will receive a Family 4-pack of tickets to the 2019 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

The special contest entries can be picked up on release Sunday, August 18, from 1-4pm. 


Ice Cream Eating Contest

Join us for our third annual ice cream eating contest, sponsored and brought to you by Rock Hill Orchard / Woodbourne Creamery!  There will be three contests divided by age: children 5 - 11 (1 pint) , teens 12 - 18 (1 quart), and adults, 18 and over (2 quarts).  

The contest will be held Monday, August 12 at 5:30pm in the seating tent across from the souvenir booth

The winner from each age group will receive a ride wristband and free general admission ticket for 2019 only.

Ag-Mazing Race

Come join the fun and be a part of the Ag-Mazing Race!

The 2019 Ag-Mazing Race will be held on Monday, August 12th at 1:30 pm.

Kids ages 4-18 will race around the Fairgrounds and engage in activities to learn about animals and agriculture.

 

Contestants will work in pairs to compete for some awesome prizes! This fun and exciting event is hosted by the Montgomery County Agricultural Center Junior Board of Directors.

Invitational Amateur Cheese Carving Contest

Tuesday, August 13th, 10:30 am, in the 4-H Hall of the Chilly Mall (Hall 2)

Free-form art sculpturing. With a 2-pound block of cheese, you have 30 minutes to carve your masterpiece. Come with your ideas. Awards are given out for the most imaginative, finest art, most Fair related, etc. Everyone gets a ribbon. Afterwards, don’t forget to visit the Cheese Booth to have one of the Fair’s famous grilled cheese sandwiches and to see your artwork displayed behind the Cheese Booth in the Cheese House!

1. Number of participants is limited to 12.
2. Must be an amateur carver.
3. Fair will provide a block of cheese and some plastic clay carving tools. You are welcome to bring your own tools (paring knife, etc.)
4. Entries will be displayed in the Butter House for the remainder of the Fair.
5. Participants must be at least 12 years old.
6. A confirmation letter for sign-ups will be mailed prior to event.


Veggie 500 Races

BASIS OF COMPETITION
Create and race a car made out of vegetables. Car base with wheels and a track provided. Vegetables and toothpicks provided. You may bring your own special veggie. Use your imagination and have fun! You may take your veggie creation home and make your own yummy vegetable soup.


INFORMATION
1. No pre-registration; arrive at the race location 1 hour prior to event.
2. All entries must be assembled on the spot.
3. Once entries are assembled, race heats will commence. We even have a special checkered flag!
4. Participants under the age of eight must have an adult assistant.
5. All participants will receive participation stickers.
6. Please join us and help us cheer on the participants.


Amateur Flower Arranging Contest

RULES:
1. Use your imagination and color the pictures.
2. Fill in the form above.
3. Take your completed picture to the Fair Office at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds during the annual Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.
4. Entries will not be accepted after the last day of the Fair. A winner will be selected in each of the following age categories and will receive a $25 cash prize.


You Be The Judge: Twiddle Muffs/Sensory Bands for Adults

RULES TO ENTER THE CONTEST

  1. Muffs must be made by the exhibitor.
  2. Muffs can be Crocheted, Knitted, Woven, or Sewn into a tube.
  3. Muffs should be 6 inches wide and 12 inches long when laid flat.
  4. Use decorations like beads and ribbons that can be twiddled with but will not break off the muff.
  5. All decorations should be securely attached to the Muff.
  6. Do not use decorations that could become a choking hazard to the Adult.
  7. Do not use any decorations made of metal.
  8. Muffs should be made using acrylic or cotton yarn or cotton fabric that can withstand institutional laundering.
  9. Please wash and dry entry prior to entering in the contest.

  11. All entries become the property of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair and will be donated to the local hospitals and assisted living facilities.

Bring your items to the Home Arts Building (top of Building 6) during normal fair registration hours

Thursday August 8th and Friday August 9th from 2pm to 8pm.

VOTING AND JUDGING

  1. General Public voting will be held from Sunday August 11 thru Wednesday August 14 from 10AM to 9PM.
  2. Winners will be notified by phone by end of day Friday August 16.

A special awards presentation will be held in the Home Arts Building On Saturday August 17 at 7PM.

A SPECIAL AWARD IS DONATED BY A FRIEND OF THE FAIR TO THE EXHIBITOR WHO DONATES THE MOST TWIDDLE MUFFS TO THE CONTEST.


Project G Street

New teams, new theme, same prizes!!!

The Home Arts Department will once again host a sewing contest sponsored by G Street Fabrics.

Contest Details:
Teams will pick up contest materials on Thursday, August 8th, and sew at the Fair in the Garden Room on Saturday, August 10th.

The 1st Place team will win a $300 gift certificate to G Street Fabrics; 2nd Place will win a $200 gift certificate; 3rd Place will win a $100 gift certificate.

Rules:
1. All toilets and toilet seats must be cleaned and sanitized.
2. Toilets and toilet seats will not be furnished by the Fair.

9. The committee chairperson reserves the right to refuse any objectionable exhibit.

You may now enter your cheese during regular Home Arts registration hours on THU AUG 8 and FRI AUG 9; or bring it to the Home Arts Building SUN AUG 11 between 10-12.  Judging starts promptly at 1pm on SUN AUG 11 in the 4-H Demonstration Kitchen.  Judging is open to the public, exhibitors are welcome.
