Participants will solve clues to find hunt items, take pictures of items, and post to Twitter or Instagram with the following mentions/tag @MoCoFair, @CountyCableMoCo. This free and fun scavenger hunt is brought to you by The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair and County Cable Montgomery, the local cable channel that ensures residents have access to open government through video.

Scavenger Hunt Items: 

  1. Who is both an artist and a lumberjack?
  2. What is a work of art that “flushes?”
  3. This guy makes cool things out of metal.
  4. Nom, nom, nom.
  5. It's fast it's fun and it makes you scream.
  6. They are modern day heros.
  7. They sell cool stuff in a “chilly” place.
  8. There are no chicken “wings” here, but there sure is a lot of fun for children.
  9. We are not judging them, in our opinion they are all winners!
  10. This place is “electric” and entertaining.
  11. Take a picture of soon to be Moooothers in this place.

Wild Cards: 

  1. Owl show you some Ag facts.
  2. Hay, find this busy insect balefore it flies away in search of honey.


  1. The hunt begins with the first successful post on Twitter or Instagram that fulfills the requirements for posting.
  2. Each participant must capture images of all of the scavenger hunt items listed and satisfactorily post on Twitter or Instagram to be eligible to win a prize. Successfully capturing and posting wild card images are not necessary to be eligible for a prize, but they give you a better chance of winning. 
  3. All pictures must be taken at the 2017 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. If the judges cannot verify that a photo was taken at the fair this year, it will not be accepted. Duplicate photos do not qualify for additional credit or for other accounts.
  4. Satisfactorily Posting on Twitter or Instagram – Each post on Twitter or Instagram must include the photo, a mention/tag of @MoCoFair and a mention/tag of @CountyCableMoCo. Posts without a photo and both mentions/tags will not qualify.
  5. Each participant must post to his or her own Twitter account. No combined efforts between two or more accounts will be accepted.
  6. A lottery style drawing will determine which qualified participant receives prizes. Entries will not be accepted after 7pm on Saturday August 19th.
  7. Wild Card posts increase chances to win!


  • Participants that satisfactorily post all of the scavenger hunt items become eligible for the prize drawings. Daily winners selected by 3pm each day.
  • Participants that post the wild card items will have a greater chance of winning the overall drawing.
  • Winners will be announced August 28th and notified via Twitter or Instagram direct message.
  • Winners of the Grand Prize and First Prize will have until September 10th to pick up their prizes. Winners of the Second, Third and Fourth Prizes may choose to pick up their prizes no later than September 11th or choose to receive them via US Mail. Daily winners can pick up their prizes in the Ag Fair office. Each winner must verify their Twitter or Instagram account.

Facebook Cash Selfie Contest


To take the ultimate selfie at the Fair.  A $69 cash prize will be awarded daily during the nine days of the Fair. A random winner will be chosen each evening, announced on Facebook, and notified via email and Facebook. The objective of this contest is to expand the Montgomery County Agricultural Center’s (MCAC) social media presence through photo documentation of the event and contest winners.

Equipment needed:

Smart phone and the ability to post the picture onto Facebook.

How to play:

Fair patrons will have to go to the Official Fair Facebook page, to post their photo with the hashtag #mocofair under the daily contest thread.  One selfie is permitted per individual and must include the following mention to be eligible for the cash prize: #mocofair All Facebook posts for this contest must be made PUBLIC for viewing by the Fair Social Media Committee.

All participants grant the use of their photo entry for promotional purposes by the MCAC on our social media outlets including but not limited to, Facebook, MCAC website, Instagram and others to advertise the contest, that we have a winner, and to encourage participation in the contest throughout the duration of the Fair as well as for other advertising purposes in print and online media.



Photo MUST be taken at the 2017 Montgomery County Fair to be eligible for the chance to win the cash prize.

Inappropriate content will not be tolerated and will be deleted from the Fair’s Facebook page if posted.

There will be a random winner selected each evening of Fair. Either a Facebook video will be used to announce the winner or a comment to the winner will be posted on the contest thread.  Once the winner is selected we will notify them on Facebook via direct message. If the winner has not responded within seven days, they will be disqualified.

This contest is for General Admission Fair Patrons who have purchased or have been provided with a complimentary ticket, and is intended to promote the Fair and boost our social media presence in the community. No Fair employee, Board Member, Jr. Board Member, Royalty, Volunteer, Contractor, Life Member, Associate Member, Vendor, Concessionaire, Honorary Member, Exhibitor, Boy Scout Troop 447 member or other person providing services to the Montgomery County Fair is eligible to win the cash prize. 

The cash prize will only be awarded to an individual one time. Participation is encouraged all nine days, however each individual will only have one opportunity to win.

Each winner will get a check mailed to them for the $69 prize within ten business days after the Fair ends.

My Best Fair Photo Contest

The Arts, Crafts, Hobbies and Photography Department is holding a special contest, My Best Fair Photo, during the 2017 Fair!

There will be three themed contests during the week:
Theme 1 “Children of All Ages”:  Entries received noon Sunday, 8/13 through noon on Tuesday, 8/15.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/15.

Theme 2 “Fair Flavors”:  Entries received from noon Tuesday, 8/15 through noon Thursday, 8/17.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/17.

Theme 3 “Moovin Around the Fair”:  Entries received from noon Thursday, 8/17 through noon Saturday, 8/19.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/19.

Only one entry per person per contest will be accepted.  Entries will be received in the Arts, Crafts, Hobbies, and Photography building (Building #3) from 12noon to 8pm daily starting Sunday,  August 13.  Entrants must come to the building to fill out the entry form and submit their picture which must be in jpeg format only.

Ribbons will be awarded to the first, second, and third place photos.  A champion for each contest will be selected from the first place winners and will receive a Family 4-pack of tickets to the 2018 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

The special contest entries can be picked up on release Sunday, August 20, from 1-4pm. 

Ice Cream Eating Contest

Join us for our very first ice cream eating contest, sposored and brought to you by Rock Hill Orchard / Woodbourne Creamery!  There will be three contests divided by age: children 5 - 11, teens 12 - 18, and adults, 18 and over.  

The contest will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 5:30pm.

Invitational Amateur Cheese Carving Contest

Tuesday, August 15th, 10:30 am, near the Cheese Booth

Free-form art sculpturing. With a 2-pound block of cheese, you have 30 minutes to carve your masterpiece. Come with your ideas. Awards are given out for the most imaginative, finest art, most Fair related, etc. Everyone gets a ribbon. Afterwards, don’t forget to visit the Cheese Booth to have one of the Fair’s famous grilled cheese sandwiches and to see your artwork displayed behind the Cheese Booth in the Cheese House!

1. Number of participants is limited to 12.
2. Must be an amateur carver.
3. Fair will provide a block of cheese and some plastic clay carving tools. You are welcome to bring your own tools (paring knife, etc.)
4. Entries will be displayed in the Butter House for the remainder of the Fair.
5. Participants must be at least 12 years old.
6. A confirmation letter for sign-ups will be mailed prior to event.

Veggie 500 Races

Sponsored by Butler’s Orchard
Saturday, Aug. 12, from 2:30–4pm in the Buffalo Wild Wings KidZone

Create and race a car made out of vegetables. Car base with wheels and a track provided. Vegetables and toothpicks provided. You may bring your own special veggie. Use your imagination and have fun! You may take your veggie creation home and make your own yummy vegetable soup.

1. No pre-registration; arrive at the race location 1 hour prior to event.
2. All entries must be assembled on the spot.
3. Once entries are assembled, race heats will commence. We even have a special checkered flag!
4. Participants under the age of eight must have an adult assistant.
5. All participants will receive participation stickers.
6. Please join us and help us cheer on the participants.

Amateur Flower Arranging Contest

Sunday, Aug. 13, at 10am at the Heritage in the Garden Room

- Limited to the first 25 registrants.
- To participate please register with the Fair Office at 301-926-3100 x205, beginning July 1st.

- All arrangements will be used in The Garden Room of the Heritage for luncheons during the Fair.

Project G Street

New teams, new theme, same prizes!!!

The Home Arts Department will once again host a sewing contest sponsored by G Street Fabrics.

Contest Details:
Teams will pick up contest materials on Thursday, August 10th, and sew at the Fair in Heritage Hall on Saturday, August 12th.

The 1st Place team will win a $300 gift certificate to G Street Fabrics; 2nd Place will win a $200 gift certificate; 3rd Place will win a $100 gift certificate.

Homemade Cheese Contest

The Home Arts Department will host a contest for homemade cheese. All skill levels are welcome to compete. Fresh cheeses must be made with pasteurized milk. Raw milk cheeses must be aged at least 60 days.
